We're usually oscillating between Bandra and SoBo to wine and dine at our favorite cafes but friends, it's a whole new world of food, waiting to be explored in Mumbai 2.0. And if you've visited Navi Mumbai, you know what we're talking about.
We recently grabbed some brunch at the Vintage Garden Cafe in CBD Belapur, and boy, did we love it!
The decor's quite true to its name. You'll find pillars, bricked walls, mock-balconies, and a winding staircase that leads to the upper section of the cafe. There's also a huge painting of Englishmen joyfully dining to add some character.
Let's get to the food now. The staff suggested we start off with the cottage cheese balls that come with a remarkably amazing salsa dip. 100 points to the soft yet crunchy cheese balls, and 120 points to the Salsa dip (we could have it as achaar everyday, guys) Next up was the Murgh Junglee, which we admit we ordered because the name was quite fascinating. However, we'd suggest you call for it ONLY if you can do spicy right. Its marinated with alot of GG paste (GG maane ginger-parlic) and that kinda won our heart because who doesn't love garlic? We also did their special house fries that were served with flavorsome dips.
For main course we did the classic Mutton Rogan Josh and Butter Naan. This combo can NEVER go wrong. And if you're a lover of both, you'll agree with us. The meat was tender, the gravy wasn't too spicy (much to our liking) and the butter naan was soft as well.
The best part of the Vintage Cafe is that it serves its Rum for as low as INR 35. And its Vodka for as low as INR 75 (both for 30 MLs) And if that's not a reason for you to go there, we don't know what is! Oh and it makes for a perfect casual date night place as well. Or just get your buddies and chill over the weekend with some beer.
