The hub of Mumbai’s Marathi culture, Dadar West or Mumbai 28 is mostly a residential locality. It’s also home to the iconic Shivaji Park, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s memorial site Chaitya Bhoomi, the busy Kabutar Khana, the sprawling IHM Mumbai Campus, the city’s most famous Vada Pav stall and much, much more. In recent times though, it’s gentrifying. Several old buildings have been broken down for plush high rises, which in turn is giving many shops and cafes to sprout in the neighbourhood.
While Dadar is synonymous to crowds, both at Dadar station and Dadar Market, you can’t deny the neighbourhood’s great connectivity, gorgeous beach-side views and how you’ll find almost anything you need in a shop here. It’s also home to one of Mumbai’s biggest wedding markets, and families for years have been shopping here for sarees, fabrics, jewellery and whatnot.
