Ten-Second Takeaway

Ever thought weddings were getting a little too… ordinary around here? Well, seems like you thought wrong. A rather adventurous and creative couple, Pria and Marc took your big fat Indian wedding, turned it around on its head and had one themed around dark and eccentric movie-director, Tim Burton.

Alice in Wonderland meets Corpse Bride? Check.

The Venue

For anything as quirky as this, a regular venue would only be a letdown. The couple decided to host their wedding at the iconic Kino Cottage in Versova after browsing through a few options on www.weddingz.in
They chose the place because it was a quiet, intimate space with a beach right behind it, a pool and lots of natural light. Unfortunately, at the moment the venue is temporarily closed.

Photographs

All the madness was photographed well by Manie Bhatia from Khachakk Studios.

Props & Costumes

To decide what props and costumes would be best for the wedding, the whole family sat and did a Tim Burton movie marathon. After finding a lot of inspiration, they came up with a few ideas that they mostly executed themselves.

They browsed through pinterest for costume inspiration, scoured Party Hunterz for Halloween props, visited Crawford Market for tons of material and asked for help from weddingz.in for fake chopped hands and feet to recreate a Sleepy Hollow-esque setting.

For costumes, although it was mostly DIY, they got theirs and a few others made by their aunt in New Zealand, whose work can be viewed here.

The Food

The food was taken care of by the venue itself, with special care taken to add slightly eccentric garnishes to the dishes and drinks, keeping in line with the theme.

The cake was a magnificent affair, and was made by Chef Javed Merchant {ex-owner of Petits Plaisir Patisserie} who presently is the executive pastry chef at Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel.
