Panshikar, Dadar

One of the oldest mithai outlets in Mumbai, Panshikar is a legendary name in Dadar. Dating back to 1921, this little shop offers saffron, nuts and dry fruit modaks. However, their ukadiche modaks have gained the most popularity which start from INR 71 for 5 pcs which is quite affordable. Panshikar has outlets in Girgaon and Vile Parle.

Modakam, Prabhadevi

Anyone who knows the city well will know what we're talking about. The beautiful amalgamation of coconut, jaggery, and sugar, with a topping of a generous amount of ghee, gives birth to the super tasty ukdiche modak here and you just won't be able to get enough of it. For INR 47 per piece, they're fairly affordable and are available all season.

You won't not know of this joint. It's literally all over the city, making its presence felt by the softest of modaks in kesar, malai, kaju, and their specialty — the Rangoli modak. Their decadent box of Modaks consists of Nawabi modak which is sugar-free dates and fig modak with roasted nuts; chocolate caramel modak which is chocolate peda with gooey caramel; and Citrus modak which is almond modak with orange filling. She has truly gone above and beyond by giving a unique twist to this traditional sweet. Their Ganesh Chaturthi special menu comprises mathura peda modak, ukadiche modak, rose falooda trifle modak, and black forest modak. The range starts at just INR 350 for 6 modaks.
