WIT: This Women's Trust Makes Everything From Cushion Covers To Stationery

This initiative called Women’s India Trust works with women and provides employment opportunities through their charitable trust. You'll find beautiful hand-stitched, hand-block home linen for our homes, bags, jams and pickles at their stores in Mumbai. 

In the year 1968, a Parsi lady named Kamila Tyabji began this initiative in order to provide sustainable livelihood solutions to women from underprivileged backgrounds, so that they could earn some money, learn skills and in turn, become independent.

The trust makes day to day home linen products, including lovely block-printed bed sheets or a pastel-coloured cotton tablecloths to lay over your table. Other products include cloth gift bags, napkins, place mats, wine bottle bags, greeting cards and preserves – including delicious jams, pickles and jellies of different flavours.

The women who are trained to make these products have the option to either take work home and make it at their convenience, or they could come and work at their workshop in Mahim.
