Boombay Djembe Folas is a high energy and captivating band who play traditional West African music and are the pioneer to do so in Mumbai. The band was formed in early 2014 and has left people feeling ecstatic and inspired. Neil Mukherjee and The Local guitar Project is influenced by multiple genres and traditions which are musically incorporated in the compositions that are performed . The set consists of original material and interpretations of some existing compositions which will take the listener through different musical experiences . The shows they have played include - ‘’Car Free Day’’, Carter Road(Mumbai) / Live From the Console(Mumbai) / Shisha Jazz Café(Pune) / Blue Frog (Mumbai) / Ibar(Mumbai) / S.O.S. outdoor, overnight campers(Maharashtra) / INK Talks featuring, ‘DharaviRocks’ / The ‘Lil’ Flea’/ charity gig ‘Healing for Nepal’ / ‘Celebrate Bandra’ by Times of India and opened for Karsh Kale at ‘Awestrung’.The Beer circus in GOA..n so on.. Anand uses the Balafon(wooden xylophone from West Africa)and is probably the only person in India to play this instrument, adding beautiful folk melodies to the powerful drumming. Boombay Djembe Folas are known to frequently collaborate and feature guest musicians as part of their performances, thereby rendering unique and memorable crowd experiences. A little information about the band members - Neil Mukherjee is a Guitarist and Award winning composer from Kolkata. A grade 8 in classical guitar from Trinity College of music London . Former member for Kolkata rock band Krosswindz . Worked with leading Indian music directors which include the likes of Shanker EhsaanLoy and AR Rahman. Currently living and working in Mumbai as a music composer/producer and sessions guitar player for the Advertising and film industry . Siddhant Vetekar . Rolling Stone India & VH1 featured, Bombay based Bassist, Composer and Producer Siddhant Vetekar is best known for his work with Pop fusion band Ferry Tales and has played over 100 shows with various artists and collaborations. Yadhunandan Nagaraj Yadhunandan is an accomplished drummer from Bangalore . Started playing drums early on and has played with many bands .
