We'd heard a lot about Mia Cucina's Powai branch, but as luck had it, we probably were waiting for a branch to spring up near our vicinity. And when this Italian restaurant opened its doors at Bandra's Hill Road, we knew we had to gift our taste buds some authentic European flavours.
We entered through a canopy of green planters, to be welcomed by the courteous staff of Mia Cucina. The restaurant has a chic but homely vibe to it. The menu has too many droolworthy options that made choosing very difficult. But the head chef came to our rescue. They surprised us with the three varieties of in-house breads. This complimentary deal has a whole wheat bread, an olive bread, and a foccacia (Italian bread mixed with herbs, and olive oil) which was coupled with a few condiments and sauces. But what we absolutely enjoyed eating was their char-grilled chicken by the name of Pollo Al Griglia Con Salsa Balsamica. The smokiness of this dish, coated with garlic and Polenta (mashed corn) satiated our souls and how! This beautiful dish is for INR 565.
For desserts, we tried something very exotic, their decadence cake, which isn't just your usual flour-less chocolate cake. This recipe is whipped up with one of the finest chocolates available in the world. It's called Barricalebeut, and they say it is the best chocolate one can invest on. It is priced at INR 285.
Our tummies were almost bursting out after the hearty meal, but who misses out on a beverage, ever? They recommended a black soda and some watermelon martini. The former one is not your regular soda. It has chunks of fresh black currant pieces fused with some local masalas. It helped in digestion and blessed our tummy for INR 105.
While beverages are not available for take-out or delivery, a majority of their soul-comforting Italian food is available on Swiggy and Zomato. You can order in favourites like the Tagliatelle Ai Pesto, Risotto Ai Funghi, Feta A Peperone Pizza, Gamberi Al Forno and decadent desserts like the Semifreddo al Caffe. So what are you waiting for? That's your weekend meal, sorted.
