Tattoo Workshop

This Sunday Shreya Josh will be hosting a 4-hour Workshop in Bandra where she will be teaching people the art of Handpoked Tattoos. Handpoked Tattoos are an age-old tradition, a lot of different tribes use this method to give permanent tattoos significant of their culture to members of their community. The process is very simple we just hold a (sterile) steel tattoo needle in the hand and trace the tattoo design on the skin by poking dot-by-dot. It’s a very intimate tattoo experience and involves the labor of love. By removing the tattoo machine from the process it makes the environment more warm and casual; no buzzing noise or scary looking machines so it helps the client relax their muscles more and gives for a softer tattoo experience. Since you mainly only need the tattoo needle and ink it is a very accessible method to give tattoos, and it is a very slow process so if you’re deliberate with each poke you can make a beautiful tattoo, even on your self! Which is why I want to teach the millennial of India this art! How cool would it be that you could casually (and safely) give yourself a permanent tattoo, and once you practice maybe even one to your friends! First, you warm up by giving tattoos to fruits, they work as a great fake skin then you trace the design on your body and under my supervision hand poke the tattoo on yourself!
