Good news for people working in Bandra-Kurla Complex {BKC} as you can now expect hybrid air-conditioned buses that will ply from Bandra, Sion and Kurla railway stations. The new BEST buses will hit the roads in October, according to a report in HT.

What's The Buzz?

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority {MMRDA}, TATA and BEST officials have launched new hybrid buses that will be air-conditioned. That’s right. These buses will make their way to the Bandra-Kurla Complex, and will ply from Bandra, Sion, and Kurla railways stations.

According to HT, apart from being air-conditioned, these are also eco-friendly buses as they promote ‘clean fuel’. They will run on diesel and petrol, however it works in such a way that the batteries of the buses will recharge when the engine is running. Apart from that, its electronic braking system will also generate power every time the brakes are pressed.

The buses will have 32 seats, and they can accommodate 28 more people standing. Facilities like mobile-charging points, digital display, announcement system, Wi-Fi and even automatic fare collection will be a part of the ecosystem. It’s future you say? It indeed is, and it looks cool as hell.

The tickets will cost anything between INR 15 to INR 25, and will have a regular frequency.

So, We're Saying...

This initiative has come in as a huge relief to the office-goers, and others who can now comfortably travel to BKC, and back. At least 25 buses will hit the roads soon, so keep a look out.
