Aye, Aye Captain: Learn Sailing Every Weekend Just An Hour & A Half Away From Mumbai

The information in this post might be outdated

What Makes It Awesome?

The Topper Class Association {India} is organizing weekend sailing classes at Little Bay Sailing and Rowing Club at Lake Pawna, and it's the coolest thing ever.

If you don't want a repeat of Joey's and Rachel's attempt at sailing {god to bless Joey}, then we suggest you check out the good folks at the Topper Association. The weekend classes are ongoing until September, and may even extend to October depending on the wind, and water situation. Pawna Lake is a freshwater lake, and the wind is perfect for honing your techniques.

Age no bar {though preferably above the age of 11}, anyone can sign up to learn sail. The Topper Class boat will be the one you'll be practicing on Saturdays and Sundays. Since it's a one-sail boat, patrons get on board one at a time to learn sailing. From the basics of learning how to sail, to how to manage a boat, everything is taught there. The experienced sailors from the Topper class ensure all safety measures are taken.

What Could Be Better?

The only catch is you need to organize your own stay and travel. However, Lake Pawna is just an hour, and 30 minutes away from Mumbai, so we say make it a road trip {or check out nearby Air BnB}.

What's My Pro Tip?

Post-Pawna, the sailing classes may shift to Mandwa, so keep a look out on their Facebook page.

Anything Else?

For Saturday, and Sunday classes it comes down to INR 5,000 per person. Make sure to wear appropriate clothes, and shoes.

If you'd like to book your class, email them at { toppersailingindia@gmail.com }. You can find their Facebook page here - { https://m.facebook.com/toppersailingindia/?ref=page_internal&utm_source=LBB&ref=lbbpost }.
