Shortcut

Coming from the valley of mist and quaint cafes, Best Buddy Cafe has opened up in Oshiwara and it’s all too reminiscent of the sweet valley life.

Get On The Doon Express

The brainchild of the husband-wife duo Manoj and Ekta Upadhyay, Best Buddy’s Café started off in Dehradhun {Doon}. Being a success there amongst the college kids and school kids, for a quick drop in for a hot cuppa and more, the cafe now has a new home in Oshiwara.

If you’ve been to the hills for vacations, you’ll remember the absolute delight that these tiny cafes offer. They’re cosy, intimate and have a sweet decor, very much like your own Central Perk. The Best Buddy Cafe in Oshiwara follows the same pattern. Enter, and be transported to a happy place that envelopes us all. The natural dances off the wooden furniture, the colourful cushions make us feel at home, and all the wall hangings and sayings make for a befitting get-your-date here vibe.

Chow Down

Did you know cafe in French really mean coffee? The concept of a cafe was to grab a hot cuppa coffee whilst it rained and stayed chilly in France mostly throughout the year. Over the years, the cafes started selling what we call ‘cafe food’. Best buddy is the same. The menu is simple and affordable.

They have shakes, coffee, iced tea and even slushes for the warm Mumbai days {which are almost always}. There’s your peanut butter shake, oreo shake, cinnamon spicy shake {priced at INR 160}. Our pick? The LAD Sangria sans the booze {pink lemonade infused with berries and mint} for INR 150.

Coming to the food, though there’s nothing extra ordinary about the menu or the taste, it’s your regular off-the-mill cafe dishes. They have chicken wings {INR 295} which are an absolute delight. Juicy, seasoned well and with a nice bbq flavour. They also have a breakfast section of pancakes{served with whipped cream} and eggs, onions rings {which have gained popularity already}, and in the battle of fries vs wedges, the winner that stands tall and proud, peri peri fries. Do give a try to the burgers, they’re really homely, the buns don’t fall apart easy and filling.

So, We're Saying...

It’s a cute place for breakfast dates, catching up with old and new friends, or just a solitary noon by yourself, lounged on their couches with a book in hand, and a sangria in other. They don’t serve alcohol here but that’s okay as their iced tea is really refreshing, and a generous amount.

#LBBTip

They don’t have a washroom here.
