Arthur Gordon, the original owner of The Gordon House was a fine tradesman and supposedly even Bombay’s most eligible bachelor. A beach-facing hotel in Madh-Marve, heading to The Resort is a holiday in itself. Of course, you can take the road to Madh, but why not take the boat instead, considering you’re headed here for a staycation anyway? The Resort overlooks the sea, has a pool, sea-facing rooms, suites and even private villas. Turn it into a vacation by taking a walk on the beach, chilling in the pool and sipping on cocktails without the hassle of travelling too far. If you don’t mind splurging, book the suites, which come complete with a private deck. Dahisar may not seem like an ideal staycation destination, but you will think differently once you see this bungalow. An old property in the neighbourhood, a mother-daughter duo have converted their home into a quirky boutique stay and host many along with their two pet German Shepherds. The bungalow has a verandah with an antique swing, a large living room, and the hosts are happy to teach you a few of their favourite recipes too. It’s a cosy homestay, which makes for a unique experience.

Hotel Sea Green
Live the Mumbai life with a balcony that overlooks Marine Drive in an Art Deco hotel. Hotel Sea Green was built in the 1940s as a residential building to house British soldiers, so some rooms still have old nameplates at the door. Much of the hotel wears its old look, but booking a sea-facing room and the large balcony is what makes the stay here great. You can look at the Queen’s Necklace (and book the suite with the same name too), watch cars whizz by and step out to eat or order in from the many iconic Mumbai restaurants present all around the neighbourhood.

The Taj Hotel’s Urban Getaway package is quite a luxurious experience and worth booking if you’re willing to splurge. If you have a special occasion to celebrate, this staycation is apt for it. You can live in the palace wing of the hotel and take in all the grandeur.

Bird’s Nest Villa
A quaint villa located in Madh, we are in love with how the host has maintained the decor and the space. While it’s ideal for four guests, it allows up to 14. It has lush greenery, birds that visit the garden for a chirp and one bedroom and a large living room with a sofa cum bed (they offer 10 extra mattresses). You have access to the private garden and terrace too, along with barbeque equipment in case you want to grill something. There are several Koli seafood restaurants nearby and you’re in the vicinity of Madh Fort, so you can walk there for a visit during your stay. You could also take your pets for a holiday as the villa is pet-friendly.

The Westin Mumbai Garden City
This forest-view property looks beautiful even on the outside, and houses rooms that are spacious, luxurious and feel really removed from the city. This five-star property is a favourite among couples, and we can understand why. It's romantic, and the in-house restaurants boast the same city-scape view at night-time as the rooms do. With several options for private candle-lit dinners, this place is a great choice if you want something luxe, but want to stay close to the western suburbs.
