Arthur Gordon, the original owner of The Gordon House was a fine tradesman and supposedly even Bombay’s most eligible bachelor. His ideas translated into The Gordon House Hotel, which makes for a lovely staycation in Mumbai, mostly because of how each floor has a unique theme to it. The boutique hotel pays an ode to different countries and continents: There’s the Mediterranean floor, Country Floor, Scandinavian floor, and The Versailles Suite in case you want to turn your staycation into a luxurious weekend. You can also dine at the oriental restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel, All Stir Fry, which offers some of the best woks in the city.

A beach-facing hotel in Madh-Marve, heading to The Resort is a holiday in itself. Of course, you can take the road to Madh, but why not take the boat instead, considering you’re headed here for a staycation anyway? The Resort overlooks the sea, has a pool, sea-facing rooms, suites and even private villas. Turn it into a vacation by taking a walk on the beach, chilling in the pool and sipping on cocktails without the hassle of travelling too far. If you don’t mind splurging, book the suites, which come complete with a private deck. Hotel Sea Green

Live the Mumbai life with a balcony that overlooks Marine Drive in an Art Deco hotel. Hotel Sea Green was built in the 1940s as a residential building to house British soldiers, so some rooms still have old nameplates at the door. Much of the hotel wears its old look, but booking a sea-facing room and the large balcony is what makes the stay here great. You can look at the Queen’s Necklace (and book the suite with the same name too), watch cars whizz by and step out to eat or order in from the many iconic Mumbai restaurants present all around the neighbourhood.

Bird’s Nest Villa

A quaint villa located in Madh, we are in love with how the host has maintained the decor and the space. While it’s ideal for four guests, it allows up to 14. The Westin Mumbai Garden City

This forest-view property looks beautiful even on the outside, and houses rooms that are spacious, luxurious and feel really removed from the city. This five-star property is a favourite among couples, and we can understand why. It's romantic, and the in-house restaurants boast the same city-scape view at night-time as the rooms do. With several options for private candle-lit dinners, this place is a great choice if you want something luxe, but want to stay close to the western suburbs.
