Looking for an offbeat trekking experience? We've found an amazing trek which clubs ancient history with nature. This weekend trek your way out to the Thanale Caves in Raigad. An amalgamation of 23 Buddhist caves - these structures date back to the first century BC. Each cave as something unique to explore. While one has a dozen stupas, the other is a masterpiece of great architecture with interesting carvings of men, women and animals. In fact, these beautiful caves have also been mentioned in the list of protected monuments of Archaeological Survey of India.
The meeting point for the trek is Dadar (east), from where you will head with the group towards the Thanale village. After a quick breakfast, the trek starts from the base village at 9:30.
Apart from ancient Buddhist culture, carvings and painting, you'll get to enjoy a peaceful jungle experience amidst the chirping of birds. Plus, these caves are located at the foot of a cliff, so if you're lucky you be able to witness gushing waterfalls as well.
#LBBTip: Cave No. 7 is the most beautiful and the largest cave amongst all the others, so make sure you get great snaps of the cave and capture its beauty.
