What Makes It Awesome

It's always exciting to come across home-grown business that are making cool products, right? That's why I was so thrilled to stumble upon Threadway on Instagram. Nisreen the founder, tells us that Threadway started out as a hobby that then turned into a business. Working in e-commerce herself, she started the brand as a hobby when taking a break from her full-time job. With plenty of love and support, the brand has grown into an Instagram business that she runs with her fiance, Ebrahim.

While most of the beautiful artwork (because all that embroidery is art) is done by Nisreen herself, she does also source embroidery from women from her community, making this an awesome women-centric business. She's especially known for her personal portraits which are either framed or done on embroidery hoops and made to order. Besides these, you'll also find pretty embroidered pendants, potlis, masks, bookmarks, napkins, coasters and more.

Price ranges from INR 100 to 300 for the crochet work, embroidery as well is in the same price range, portraits start around INR 2,000 to 2,500 for couple portraits and individual portraits from INR 1,500. Completely handmade and customised, each of her products are definitely an expression of skill and art. I personally can't wait to get my hands on one of those lovely pendants! And really, what a unique gift to give someone you love a commemorative portrait that's made entirely by hand?

If you have got a blank wall, here are some more awesome options to check out for cool wall art. And for all things handcrafted, these brands make gorgeous handpainted things we love.
