Byculla Zoo’s Redemption: India’s First Penguin Takes Birth In Mumbai Zoo

So Far So Good

Mumbai’s Jijamata Udyaan, also known as the Byculla Zoo, recently heaved a sigh of relief after it brought to life a live and kicking (also max level adorable) Humbolt penguin baby, India’s first penguin citizen, reported NDTV

Penguins, that were brought to Mumbai on Aditya Thackeray’s persistence from South Korea in June 2016, have shown signs of struggle in the last two years including the death of one from the bunch. While the decision of bringing these aquatic birds far away from their congenial surrounding met with a lot of flak from the people, this new chick should bring along a ray of hope, signs of adaptation and smiles.

The chick is being called the Freedom Baby as it was born on the evening of August 15, the Independence Day. Are you planning to visit the zoo soon?
