A homage to Bandra in all its glory, Cafe Bandra is the newest restaurant to come to the suburbs and it is serving everything Bandra – from bun maska to sheesha.

A Tribute To Bandra

Cafe Bandra is as new as it can be, given that it opened up to the public only on Friday, July 21. With its envious location in the heart of Bandra {and next to High on Tea} the restaurant is Star Hospitality and Bhaaijaanz famed people’s second outlet.

Conceptualised as a homage to the area the partners were brought up in, Cafe Bandra takes inspiration from this melting pot area – with Bandra pincode customised phone numbers, menu and even the decor in the restaurant. It’s a spacious eatery that can easily accommodate 50-odd people with its three sections, that is the sheesha lounge, regular dining space and an exclusive space reserved for private parties and celebrations.

The decor though takes off a simple form with its floral seat covers and white tables – the wall {right when you enter} is lined with interesting artwork depicting all things Mumbai, and Bandra. The artwork has been made using nails – with one particular artwork of the sea-link using almost 1,500 nails {is that bizarre or is that bizarre?}.

Chow Down

The menu is a multi-cuisine fare and may we reiterate, divided in sections of Bandra landmarks and popular phrases. There’s Bandstand appetisers starting with Turkish mint falafel {INR 259}, baked canape {INR 289}, and spiracha prawns {INR 385}, pita pockets with butter chicken {INR 299} and more.

You can also expect kheema pav tower, Irani kebaba {that is, minced lamb}, burgers, pizzas, soups with mains boasting of a slow cooked lamb chop {INR 489} or spaghetti bhuna ghost {INR 419}. For desserts, keep an eye out for their papparoti, or simply called coffee buns that are warm buns filled with butter and a crunchy coffee exterior.

#LBBTip: They also have a tiny bakery inside the restaurant at the entrance that serves bun maska, cucakes and brownies. It’s truly celebrating the simplicity and the style of Bandra that comes with its age-old bakery.

And The Sheesha...

…comes in at least 23 flavours like apple, apricot, bubblegum, cinnamon, peach and so on. There’s a separate seating area dedicated for sheesha lovers and a single sheesha flavours starts at INR 799.

Sip On

You gotta try their Irish Cream coffee, herbal tea and healthy smoothies. They serve mocktails, shakes and coffee. So if you’re parched and looking for a quick coffee break, head here and get yourself a steaming hot cuppa.

So, We're Saying...

A celebration of Bandra, for Bandra and by the people of Bandra, we are excited about the restaurant launch. And is there ever too much sheesha? Yeah, we didn’t think so too…

#LBBTip

They will begin their takeaway menu within a week or so with a separate menu catering to only delivery.
