Where To Sip A Glass Of Mulled Wine

We love Christmas in Bombay for two reasons - one, for the celebrations and festivities that has everyone celebrating life, with joy and cheer all around. And second, mulled wine, the traditional festive drink. Here’s our list of favourite places to celebrate the spirit of Christmas with a glass of mulled wine.

Perch Wine And Coffee Bar

When this place opened up, it was clearly all the rage for dates. It’s a classic example of an all-day space, and the menu reflects just that. They’re bringing back mulled wine like they do every year! We believe they've also got a lovely chocolate wine if you’re feeling truly experimental.

CinCin, Bandra

CinCin’s a lovely place to be all year, but during Christmas, we think Italian food becomes all the more magical! Their Christmas menu covers a range of appetisers, mains, and cocktails, and it’s no surprise they’ve got their mulled wine on lock. Head here for a glass after a hectic day of work, if your office is close to BKC!

Cafe Mavs

Cafe Mavs’ mulled wine is a holiday classic made by following the same traditional recipe since 2015. Mavs, the owner of the cafe, starts by adding sugar and then slow-simmers it with fresh zest of orange, lemon, and lime, and mulled spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and star anise. You can even get the wine delivered home during Christmas.

Gallops Restaurant

One of the finest restaurants in Mumbai, Gallops is known for its exquisite location overlooking the Mahalaxmi Race Course. Visiting Gallops makes for a memorable dining experience. And its mulled wine is the star of attraction this winter season. The drink consists of warm, spiced red wine which is further infused with aromatic spices like cinnamon, cloves, and star anise and and is lastly enhanced with hints of citrus; a softly flavored, warm sip is surprisingly very comforting.

Pro Tip

We've curated an entire list here for you to enjoy mulled wine at multiple places this season!

Watch Christmas Movies!

‘Tis also the time of the year when it’s totally okay to watch and rewatch the cheesiest movies made by mankind. We love to hate them, but they’re so darn comforting. Lucky for you, we’ve drawn up an exhaustive list. The crew may or may not have watched and rewatched these a million times.

Where To See the Best Christmas Lights in Mumbai

It’s that time of year when the entire Mumbai, but especially Bandra, goes into that sparkly mood like no other. Houses are decked up with lighting, balconies with fairy lights, and streets with people on evening strolls to check it all out. Although it's all the Bandra lanes worth checking out, we recommending these places for a jolly good time!

Bandra Wonderland

The Bandra Wonderland at Carter Road is where the festivities get loud in the best way possible. There's usually larger-than-life Christmas tree, Santa’s sleigh, glowing stars and the popular “I Love Mumbai” sign. The lights even stretch all the way to Bandra Reclamation. It's gorgeous, but can also get very crowded on weekends, so plan your visit accordingly!

Chapel Road

Usually after it's the 10th of December, the entire chapel road becomes a Christmas wonderland. The homes go all out with vibrant lights, star lanterns, giant cribs narrating the Nativity story, and decorations in the balconies and on gates. This lane has some of Bandra's most popular cafe, especially the Mokai cafe, that jumps into full holiday mode before anybody else.

Where To Hear Christmas Carols in Mumbai

Convent Road, Bandra

Convent Road during Christmas is pure magic. The legendary “Carols on Convent Road” night brings together Bandra’s most talented singers and musicians as residents block out the street and set up a stage. The crowd here is usually the old-timers, families, kids, and every true-blue “Sandra from Bandra” who knows their way around a Christmas hymn. There's also some lively food stalls with choriz poie, sorpotel snacks and other East Indian favourites.

Khotachiwadi Village

Khotachiwadi is already one of Mumbai’s prettiest heritage villages, but during Christmas it feels like you’re in a quiet Goan-Portuguese side of the city. The residents here often gather for small choir performances or community sing-alongs. It's not every day, but generally during the Baro market and this time it's from 12 Dec to 14 Dec.
