Old Kent Estates & Spa is a colonial estate located within the lush and thriving coffee plantations of Coorg. Known to be one of the first such estates to have been built in India, it dates back to the 1800s. We think this luxury resort is a perfect getaway, especially during the monsoons.

What Is It?
How Do I Get There?
The nearest airports are Bangalore {283 kms} and Mangalore {156 kms}. You can take a cab or hire a car from either of the airports, and it takes about five hours from Bangalore and three hours from Mangalore by road. Be rest assured that the beauty you will see enroute will more than make up for the time it takes to get there.
What's So Unique About It?
Eight cottages spread across 200 acres of land and surrounded by coffee plantations, the kind of exclusivity this luxury resort offers is largely different from any other, and very rare to find. This truly gives one the feeling of harmony and tranquility, making it a perfect break from your chaotic city life.
The resort houses within it a lot of history. Built by Lieutenant Colonel W. R. Wright, an army officer in British India back in the 1800s, over time the resort has still retained its colonial charm. Staying here is almost like going back in time- you will stay in gorgeous cottages while you can spend time in the even more stunning lodge.
The lodge that used to be the home to the Wright family, is strategically located to offer a 180 degree view of the surrounding mountain and valley. It has all the necessities of the modern day luxury coupled with the stately old colonial feel. The lodge houses the reception, the dining room, a study, a games area and even a home theatre, offering you a wholesome experience.
Coming to the stay, nestled in the large estates are eight cottages, all of which have been designed keeping in mind ultimate luxury and comfort. Each cottage has a cosy suite, a large bathroom with a sky roof and a private garden with outdoor seating. Treat this like your home all the while that you stay there and it will return the favour by providing you with warmth and comfort. Wake up on misty morning to the chirping birds and weather that you could only wish for back home. Per night stay here for two people ranges between INR 9,000 to INR 16,000 depending upon the day of the week you pick, the season and largely your luck {no one said good things come for cheap}.
Anything Else?
There’s an in-house restaurant that will keep you well-fed throughout with their lip-smacking local delicacies and Indian and Continental fares. We strongly suggest going here with your partner on a special occasion and come back completely relaxed and rejuvenated.
