Oshiwara – neighbour to Andheri (West) has always remained the focus of attention for opulent apartments, bigwigs, famous personalities and the tempting food. Climbing the chart of restaurants is Umraan Regional – a space dedicated for cuisines prepared with only Indian spices. Umraan means prosperity and well the outlet is filled with contentment and pleasure.
The two-floor restaurant aims to provide a culinary experience where there is no fusion concept; it’s purely home-styled cooked food. The first thing that invariably grabs your attention is the logo of a “tiger” which denotes power and the will to be the leader. Divided into two sections, you can either dine at fresco or prefer indoors. Murals of people on the walls, Chinese wooden chandelier, an elephant painting, few frames of freedom fighters and the cultural food map of India is tailor-made in lines to the offerings. Moreover, the comfortable seating arrangements will make you sit for hours.
Umraan Regional offers a menu from rural India with full-flavoured cosines for all-day dining. The outlet is open for dining till 1.00 am and delivery is on till 4.00 am. Now, no more trouble from your hunger pangs.
To quench your thirst, start with Aam Panna with soda and raw mango syrup along with the most selling Kokam Sherbat. For appetizers, we were intrigued with Kothimbir Wadi made up of coriander and fried until it turns crisp. In similar lines is Rajasthani Papadi Paneer that sounds crunchy with marinated paneer rolled in papad and deep fried. You can swirl your tongue with Goan Chicken Cutlets made up of chicken stuffed potato.
The main course tastes traditional with cuisines like Paneer Rogan Josh Bhurjee prepared with minced paneer mixed with Kashmiri rogan josh masala, Chicken Chettinad selected from the regions of Tamil Nadu, Paneer Chettinad specially designed from Chettinad and Dal Panchratan with wholesome flavours of lentils and beans. The curries taste best with Jeera Rice & Paneer & Cheese Stuffed Paratha.
Sweet items like Berry Rasmalai, Nutella Gulab Jamun & Belgian Chocolate Phirni are few desserts on the menu to end your meal with.
Umraan Regional is one place that will suffice your taste buds with mouth-watering cuisines and with the kind of exposure they have got, it’s a must visit place. So skip all those fusion cuisines and have a decent Indian meal here.
