While it’s one of the most lively times of the year in the city, the after-effects of Ganesh Chaturti on the environment are way too destructive.
There’s plastic clogging up already-choked drains, huge amounts of food wasted, stray colours polluting our water, and of course, idols crafted out of deadly PoP. So, Plaster of Paris is terrible for the environment because it’s not biodegradable. Much like plastic, it stays forever, poisons waterbodies, and hurts marine life. We don’t wanna paint a bleak picture, but it’s about time we started opting for eco-friendly idols that don’t harm the world around us!
