Once a store that catered only to music, Embassy in Chembur, a 40-year-old outlet, has now changed with the times and houses decorative items, perfect for gifting.

Chembur is full of bylanes that lead you to hidden gems, and to us, this was another to add to our list. Embassy, a store that only catered to music and its peripherals 40 years ago, has now adapted and turned into a gifting centre of sorts, with a huge collection of home décor pieces, decorative items, greeting cards, plush toys and even music CDs (from yesteryear) and music players like the Caravan. 

We had a long chat with the owner, who mentioned how changing with the times has actually been a good thing for them and how business is booming thanks to a number of festive occasions celebrated almost every month in the city. We decided to see what they had in store, and we were pleasantly surprised – with greeting cards for any occasion, gifts to give your folks, friends or extended family - mugs, stationery, perfumes, plush toys, décor items – the list is endless. 

Close to the station, it’s easy to locate and their friendly staff makes it a point to guide you through what you’d like to buy. 

While they do have some interesting gifting options, we’d like to see more options when it comes to decorative pieces and perfumes. It would also help if the store could add a bit more to their music player and speaker collection.

The owner is extremely friendly and will tell you the pros and cons of some of their high-end products. We’d take his word for it since he’s been in the business for so long.
