European Union Film Festival 2017 Is All Set To Take Stage In Pune This Month

What Is It?

European Union Film Festival 2017 organised by the National Film Archives of India is bringing some of the finest European films to Pune from June 11 to June 17 at the National Film Archives College of India.

The festival is being organised in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union, National Film Archive of India and Directorate of Film Festivals.

Who Is It For?

The film festival is for anyone who loves their world cinema and want to experience movies that go beyond the national borders. The festival will premier on June 11 and screen the beautiful Estonian film, Cherry Tobacco.

The films that will be screened come from countries like Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

The schedule for the festival is out, and a variety of genres and multi-lingual will be screened.

Why Should I Go?

To broaden your film horizon, and explore movies from the European continent. They are rich in their culture, language and offer a different perspective.

On June 12, there will be a Masterclass led by the Estonan film directors, Katrin Mainmik and Andres Maimik – the duo behind Cherry Tobacco. It will explore the direction, screen writing and more.

Some of the movies that you can expect include: The Portugese Falcon {June 12}, Invisible from Greece {June 12}, Visible World from Slovakia {June 13}, Hot Hot Hot from Luxembourg {June 13}, Flying Home from Bulgaria {June 14}, Family Member from Cyprus {June 15}, Nice People from Sweden {June 15}, Hassan’s Way from Spain {June 17} and so many more.

Anything Else?

It’s a great initiative to bring world cinema to the Indian audience. The entry to the festival is free and is first-come-first-basis. If you’re planning on going from Mumbai, it’s easy to get to Pune – you can even stay over.
