Lumbung Restaurant Ubud

What Makes It Awesome

During my travel to Bali, I was very keen to savor the local Indonesian cuisine. And the place where I exactly got what I wanted was Lumbung Restaurant at Desa Visesa Ubud Resort, Bali.

The restaurant is located under the bridge of Desa Visesa and overlooked by tropical jungle and a river. The walk on the pathway to the restaurant has a calming effect due to the lush greenery on both sides, streams of flowing water and hanging lanterns adorning the path.

On entering the restaurant, I got a pleasant surprise by seeing a quaint metal statue of Lord Ganesha, the Hindu God who removes all obstacles. The waiting area has an interesting stone installation in the shape of a boat. The interiors are warm and cozy. Outstanding Balinese carvings and earthen elements of woven rattan add to the authentic Indonesian experience that the restaurant has to offer. The interiors are designed with an approach to make you feel at home and they even offer you a chess board while waiting for your food. Rice has a place of prominence in the Indonesian cuisine and Hotel Desa Visesa, which houses the restaurant, has a rice field all across the hotel property. The restaurant uses this rice and a lot of organic spices and other ingredients from the Permaculture farm of Visesa which makes the food even more appealing to the taste.

Lumbung is vibrant with Balinese hospitality which makes the culinary experience a memory to cherish. It has preserved authentic Indonesian culinary heritage by always using local produce, supporting local farmers and using Indonesia’s indigenous cooking techniques and ingredients. The dishes are served with the casual grace and charm typical of the finest Indonesian household. The ambience is very serene and the staff is extremely courteous and caring. The music they play is very pleasing and puts you at ease.

If you wish to experience authentic Indonesian cuisine in your Bali visit, Lumbung Restaurant is the place to head to.
