Explore This Hidden Portuguese Village Of Mumbai

What's Happening?

There are certain spots in every city that hold immense historical and heritage value. More often than not, they go unnoticed as walkers pass by. Smack in the centre of South Mumbai, Matharpacady was once a Portuguese hamlet that has now been engulfed by the city’s skyscrapers. However, whatever remains of this hamlet still retains its old-world charm - be it the narrow bylanes, the cottages or the winding crossroads - much like Asterix’s Gaulish Village. Khaki Tours along with LBB seeks to explore the village with the walk named #OldMansHamlet. Witness the Indo-Portuguese character of the village in its small white villas and cottages with arched windows and entryways. You do not want to miss getting a slice of the bygone era at Matharpacady Village in Mazgaon.

The mile-long walk will be conducted on November 13, Saturday from 4 - 5:30 PM. You will have to pay an entry fee of INR 599 as the good folks from Khaki Tours will guide you around the village with sites and facts.

How’s the venue?

The walk will be conducted in Matharpacady Village, Mazgaon.
