A new app called Eyewatch has been introduced to provide female commuters on the Mumbai local a safer journey.

The Railway Protection Force {RPF} recently launched an app as a safety net for commuters on the Virar–Churchgate line. Eyewatch, available on both Android and iPhone, is an app designed with a panic button and other emergency functions such as a medical alert feature, option for calling an emergency taxi and even reporting in a case of sexual harassment.

How does it work? You download the app and sign up using your phone number and a password, which is then verified with a one-time password {OTP}. They require access to your camera, audio and location services for it to be functional
start with filling your number and your password. They access your microphone and camera as well.

You’re supposed to fill in your emergency contacts in the app, who will be immediately notified if you hit the button on the app.
