The Flora Fountain is getting a classic ol’ makeover, and we say it’s about time.

What’s The News?

This fountain, although located in one of the most beautiful and historic spots of South Bombay, has been called a fountain in the past two years only for superfluous reasons. Truth is, there has been no water gushing out of there for while due to a run down state of the pipes.

In the course of the next six months, the Mumbai chapter of INTACH {Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage} and architect Vikas Dilawari are working on a restoration project. The first phase is to restore the fountain itself, including cleaning and fixing processes. The next is to amp up the area surrounding the structure – maybe to create a sitting area or plaza around it.

So, We’re Saying…

We love Fort, and can’t deny it. That we could be spending new year’s eve sitting around the fountain, looking at the beautiful sight of water dancing here is a glorious thought.
