Jharkhand Silk Textile and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd, a.k.a Jharcraft, is a government of Jharkhand undertaking that was formed to create sustainable livelihood opportunities in the rural areas, based on Sericulture, Handloom, Handicraft and other activities. In Mumbai, they have a store in the bustling Lokhandwala market that has recently sprung up, and sells authentic Tussar sarees and stoles. Guess what stole our heart? The sarees with Madhubani paintings skillfully done on them. They're done to perfection by the rural artisans in the different villages of Jharkhand and you'll instantly want to buy them. They're all under INR 4,000, by the way. If you aren't a saree draper, go for more usable things like Tussar silk stoles and scarves, and cut pieces for getting yourself that perfect tailor-made kurti. Oh and before you think we're leaving you behind, men, there's something for you too. You'll get silk Nehru jackets in pastel colors that aren't too high on the price meter. Jharcraft is also known for their special Kuchai Silk that has its origin in Jharkhand. So get yourself a little bit of this State's culture.
