First the thrill of IKEA in a country where a lot of us had begged (while awake and asleep!) for it to open and now, another popular furniture chain, West Elm, has finally made its way here and we're seriously asking ourselves to calm down. If you're wondering why we're losing our plot, we'll tell you. This American furniture + design chain - one of the Williams Sonoma brands - is in 60 countries already, and it's basically everything you could possibly dream of in one space - think furniture, ceramics, lighting, carpets for your study; living room; bedroom; balcony; for any sort of person with varied tastes flowing over different age groups. Phew!
Okay, here's another reason to shout out in disbelief - apart from this, you also have Pottery Barn & Pottery Barn Kids (remember that Friends episode with the apothecary table?) that are a part of this same family. When we got in touch, we were told that Pottery Barn might take a while to open, but it sure is happening!
Now, West Elm has a range of sustainably sourced and organic decor that are fair trade certified, and you can take a look at their entire range on their Indian website and buy off it.
We've heard from the good folks here who have told us that the first store is planning to open in Mumbai some time early next year (At Jio World Drive, BKC) and while we dream of physically walking around, picking up things we feel we feel, we are happy to shop online for now!
