Ten-Second Takeaway

The General Post Office in Mumbai offers the My Stamp service which lets you print your face, a picture you’ve shot or pretty much any other photo of your choice on a postal stamp.

What’s It About?

Ever wondered what it will be like to have your face on a postal stamp? You can now stop wondering and instead, actually get it done. Personalised commemorative stamps are offered under the ‘My Stamp’ service of the General Post Office in Mumbai. These sheets of postage stamps of India post were introduced back in 2011 and ever since the GPO has received several offers, including those for corporate tie-ups. The process to get them done is pretty simple- once you’re at the GPO, head to the philately section with your desired photo {soft and hard copies are accepted}, choose the theme you would like, fill a form {for official records} and you’re done. It’s that simple {believe us, we got ours done in 10 minutes}.

Presently, the themes available are lily, pansy, dahlia, cineraria, Ajanta caves, Taj Mahal, fairy queen, Gateway of India, and greetings among others. The GPO lets you print pictures of you, your friends, family members, partners {people have placed huge orders to use these postal stamps on wedding cards}, any artwork, symbol, heritage buildings, etc. If you get into a corporate tie-up {like Amazon India and Western Union have} or wish to get over 4000 sheets printed, you can even get a personalised theme of your choice.

What else?

You need to remember that group photos {specifically large groups} may not be ideal as the thumbnail has to be a perfect square, and alongside it will be the selected commemorative postage stamp {basically, the theme you chose which is actually what makes the stamp usable}. And when using these to post actual letter, ensure you use both together. Priced at INR 300 for a sheet of 12 {all 12 have to be the same}, if you order more than one and up to 100 sheets, you will get a 10 per cent discount. Above 100 and you’re eligible for a 20 per cent discount.

So We’re Thinking…

Whether a gifting option, holiday card postage stamps, or just for fun {and good memories}, we think paying a visit to the GPO and getting these stamps made is the coolest and most innovative idea ever. What can give a more personalised feeling than this?

When: GPO is open from 10 am to 6 pm, the My Stamp service is on till 3:30 pm.
