SoBo peeps, you’ve got a reason to rejoice! Our favourite Italian fine-dine – Gustoso – is back in Kemps Corner.
A royal maroon splash has replaced the lively bright green walls, lending a more magnificent, glamorous and regal touch. Enter through their huge glass doors and be welcomed with décor representing an epitome of luxury, authentic Italian specialties, regional delicacies, and a swanky bar.
The fine-dine is spaciously divided into five unique areas - The Ristorante, Vino, The Pizzeria, Giardino and The Villa. So, whether you’re looking for an open bar space or something more private and intimate – Gustoso has got it all just under one roof. So, brownie points for comfortable seating.
Let’s dig right into the food, shall we? The new menu is authentic, offers variety and is sure to spoil you for choice. From comforting Zuppe aka soups and healthy Insalate aka salad to Pasta, Risotto and Pizza – Gustoso guarantees impeccable taste and premium quality fare hand-crafted with traditional cooking techniques. We were lucky to grab a table adjacent to a beautiful casement window capturing the busy streets of SoBo.
Start off your meal with their traditional Italian soup called Minestrone. Prepared with finely minced vegetables and basil pesto, it was simply comforting, warm and flavorsome. We paired this with a delicious kale and quinoa salad called Insalata Di Cavolo E Quinoa. The greens were paired with roasted almonds, bell peppers and avocado, tossed with honey and lemon.
Next, we opted an appetizer we hadn’t really tasted before – Suppli. It’s a traditional Roman street food made with Italian rice croquettes filled with mozzarella cheese and served with Arrabbiata sauce. Now, the time for the big feast, Gustoso’s specialty – their wholesome and thin-crust pizzas. While we’ve munched on their Margherita a couple of times, this time we tried their Indianapoli. A thin crust pizza topped with tangy tomato sauce, mozzarella, sautéed onions, olives, mushrooms, jalapenos and bell peppers. As they say, it took a pizza of our hearts, because nothing’s better than a perfect and a satisfying slice of pizza. We ended it on a sweet note with some amazing seasonal strawberry sorbet. It has a perfect balance of sweetness with a hint of tanginess.
