Fivelements Retreat Bali is a beautiful haven nestled on the banks of river Ayung. I spent a few days at this resort while I was in Bali because I had heard great things about their breath-taking location and wellness treatments.
I wanted to live close to the river and wake up in the vicinity of the forest. I was also deeply impressed by their virtue for sustainable living. All their wellness treatments were focused around good living and revitalization.
I decided to get their Super Food Facial since it promised radiant and glowing skin. My skin craved pampering after having travelled for long and I wanted all the stress that reflected on my face to go away. This was a part of their beauty spa rituals so I zeroed in on it. It was an intensive facial treatment for complete rejuvenation of my face and giving it a lasting glow and freshness.
Check out the finer details of the super food facial:
1. Ambience
The spa retreat where I received the facial was right across from the river. Flowing river water was like music to the ears. There was thick tree cover around the retreat through which soft sunlight filtered and illuminated the room with a golden light. Birds chirped in the background as I stared at the river from the patio. The place was minimalistic but beautiful, built with strong bamboo sticks and decorated only with a bed and lounging chairs in the patio. I was already in the mood to relax and unwind before my therapist asked me to lie down. She was a middle aged cheerful woman who brought it trays full of natural ingredients and explained the whole therapy to me. It was good to know what I could expect at the end of the treatment.
2. Facial Therapy
The Super Food Facial lasted for a total of 120 minutes because it was a lengthy ritual focusing on each and every aspect of facial skincare.
It started with a skin balancing ritual first where the therapist worked on my face to even my skin out. It was followed by exfoliation and an enriching steam bath. Then, she applied a natural mask on my face and used chilled quartz crystals to reawaken my skin. It was then followed by a soothing mask and a neck massage. It ended with the therapist applying essential oils to my face and neck to lock in the goodness of the facial.
3. Products used
Fivelements uses natural products which are fresh and supple for this facial. The therapist used coconut milk and flower tonic to clean my skin. Pineapple serum, honey and Balinese neem were used to exfoliate me gently and get rid of any impurities and oil in my pores. Hibiscus leaf, sandalwood powder and flowers were used for the aromatic steam bath. It smelled so good that I felt like I was sitting in a garden full of flowers.
Then the therapist applied a spiruline-seaweed mask on my face post which fresh aloe gel was used to soothe my skin. She used a bowl full of virgin coconut oil for my neck massage. Essential oils, sakti elixir were used at the end to conclude the facial.
4. Its effect on me
My face was glowing, my skin felt hydrated and new the moment I was done with the facial. It cleared my complexion a bit and also made my skin tone even. I was thrilled to see how I was glowing and looked fresh. I felt like I had a new face. Looking at how good my skin looked back then, I was glad that I chose to take this treatment. Those were two hours well spent on myself!
5. What was different?
When you take a wellness treatment in a beauty salon, you don’t get to enjoy the ambience, which may or may not be good, and someone is always waiting for your turn to be over. But, at Fivelements, my therapist took all the time she needed to complete each step of the facial. The retreat was peaceful and serene, adding to the experience. The products used were natural and sourced freshly so I could actually feel their essence seep into my skin. My therapist was experience and told me all about the treatment and how it would help my skin and appearance.
The utter comfort I felt in the privacy of that retreat nestled by a river was something I won’t be able to experience anywhere else. The facial covered all bases, right from toning, cleansing, exfoliation, hydration and revitalization of my face. It was a wholesome spa and the neck massage helped me get rid of my any discomfort I felt from my extensive travelling. I found that this facial care experience was more than just for beauty but also contributed to my mental and emotional calmness.
The best part about these rituals is that they are done following Balinese techniques using the best ingredients by expert therapists so the results are outstanding. If you go to Bali and do not try such authentic wellness rituals in the lap of nature, then you will be missing out on a lot.
