Get A Scoop Of Mocha Chocolate Ice-Cream From This Powai Ice-Cream Van

Stop your cars, switch off the ACs and stop by Tastefreez, an ice-cream van in Powai.

Tastefreez is Powai’s answer to Mumbai’s sweltering heat. Permanently parked outside Powai Plaza in Hiranandani, this van run by a man named Bhagwaan churns out and sells ice lollies and kulfis right from 1pm–1am. The ice-creams are delicious, but the kulfi and falooda he prepares take the cake.

The flavours he makes them in are everything from vanilla, mango litchi, black currant, mocha chocolate – there are 14 flavours in general which you can get in a cup or a cone. Half a cup is only for INR 25 for the ice-creams.

In the summer, they also make the seasonal sitafal and mango flavours according to the availability, and in the monsoon – gajar ka halwa flavoured kulfi.

There are also about 10 types of falooda {butterscotch, rose, kesar, and more} and we tried the kulfi falooda, which he prepared on the spot and it turned out to be creamy, fresh and thick – just the way we like it. It was for INR 60 for half a glass and INR 100 for a full one.

Although he does not roam around in the traditional sense of a food truck, his ice creams are the sweetest thing to happen to someone on a hot midsummer’s day.
