What Makes It Awesome

The Australian Consulate and The Pomegranate Workshop take great pleasure in inviting you to a one of a kind conversation between two of the most globally respected sports writers of our times. Gideon Haigh, Australian sports and business writer, author and cricket historian will be in conversation with well-known Mumbai based sports writer and columnist, Ayaz Memon.

Both have been sports writers for over 30 years will be in conversation at Cafe Zoe, Lower Parel on 31st October at 6 30 pm over tea and refreshments.

The discussion will span sports writing and history (particularly cricket, on which both writers have written extensively) and will certainly carry invaluable tips for aspiring journalists.

Entry is free of cost but pre-registration is a must and is on a first come, first served basis. Kindly note that each participant needs to individually send in this registration. Please do not send in group registrations.

About the Panelists:

Gideon Haigh is an independent Australian journalist, who writes on sports (especially cricket) and business. He began his career as a journalist with The Age where he worked from 1984 to 1992 and for The Australian from 1993 to 1995.
He has contributed to more than a hundred newspapers and magazines, written 32 books and edited seven others. He wrote his first book in 1993 titled, The Cricket War: The Inside Story of Kerry Packer’s World Series Cricket, which received critical acclaim.

Ayaz Memon has been a journalist for nearly 40 years and has edited newspapers like Mid-Day, Bombay Times and DNA, magazines like Sportsweek and has been sports editor of the Independent and Times of India. Ayaz has covered over 200 test matches among several international sporting events and is currently consulting editor with Network 18. He has been a commentator on cricket with Star Sports and Set Max and has written two books on cricket and co-authored one on 50 years of India's independence titled India 50 The Making of a Nation
