India now has a hotel made with shipping containers and you must check it out!

Beetle Smartotels in Mundra (Gujarat), is India’s very first hotel made with shipping containers and if you’re looking for a unique stay in Gujarat, then look no further.

So.. It’s about time you took that road trip to the Great Rann of Kutch, and the best part is that now you also have an unusual place to stay along the way!

The exterior of the hotel is made with discarded 40-foot shipping containers that have been refurbished and each container houses 3 rooms.

Inside, you’re welcomed into cozy rooms that have been tastefully furnished with wooden finishing. These rooms are definitely on the smaller side, but they are well equipped with modern amenities: a super comfortable queen sized bed, 32” LCD TV, air conditioning, free wifi, complimentary tea and coffee maker, locker, mini fridge and a well maintained bathroom. If the aim was to make us feel like we’re on a ship – well, they succeeded.

The property is quite massive – it has 100+ rooms, an in house restaurant, a front lawn with seating and a pool table. And the best part is that it is located in a very remote area, away from the crowds.

Although the property is great overall, the size of the swimming pool and fitness center could’ve been better.

The fitness center had 1 treadmill, 1 yoga mat and some weights, which could accommodate only 1 or 2 people at a time. As for the pool, it would be impossible for someone to actually swim in it – it can be used for a leisurely dip though.

Also, if the official check in time is late, you can call them and request an earlier check in as well.

Mundra being a busy port and shipping hub, this hotel is quite popular with business travelers. However, it’s a great place for leisure travelers to stopover and relax too.
