Trek To Andharban

What's Happening

It's not Friday the 13th nor is it Halloween, but if you enjoy all things spooky (well, it really isn't but hey, we didn't coin the term Andharban!) and would love to experience a trek through a forest in the Sahyadri region, you're in luck. Andhar in Marathi means darkness and Ban means a jungle. So, it literally translates to dark forest, where you trek through dense overgrowth, with gorgeous views of Devkund waterfall and Tamhini Ghat on the way.

While the trek is a simple one, it still is a 20-kilometer stretch passing through a dense forest on the edge of a valley. Thrilling, isn't it? The major attractions for you would be the hypnotic Kundalika Valley view, Tamhini Ghat, Bhira Dam, and you'll even spot 4-5 waterfalls on the way.

The cost is INR 1,250 per person, where you meet the Adventure Geek team at SGNP gate at 10PM on August 31. You reach the base village and stop for the night. Next morning, you head out and reach Pimpri Dam (starting point of the trek), and start your trek, break for lunch, and then reach Bhira Dam (end point of trek), stop for snacks and head back to Mumbai.

The price per person includes entry charge, travel from Mumbai to Andharban and back, breakfast, and evening snacks, and expertise charges. The amount does not include lunch, which you will have to carry on your own.

Pro-Tip

Don't forget to carry water, lunch, raincoat, comfortable shoes, warm clothing and other thing you think fit to carry. Happy trekking!
