Never Miss A Joke: You Can Now Attend Late Night Open Mics In Mumbai

Mumbaikars, now you can have a laugh at these late night editions of open mic nights organised by FiLLi Cafe and Lasoon Live starting 10.30pm onwards.

Open Mic nights have become increasingly common in Mumbai. It’s giving a platform to the up and coming comedians and poetry slammers to come out and share their pieces with the public. The idea is to test out your material in front of a new audience every time – some induce laugh, some our wrath.

The idea behind these late night open mic nights is to let people {especially us working folks} come and experience the open mic nights without rushing out from our offices. A typical open mic night starts off as early as 7.30pm on wards, or if they’re pushing the boundaries, 8.30pm. With the newest property, The Midnight Fill organised at Cafe FiLLi in Breach Candy, the open mic nights begin only at 10.30pm giving the comedians and the audience an opportunity to come in and actually not miss the beginning of any set. The idea has been started off by comedian Aakash Mehta.

We are loving the late night editions. It sucks to be the first two comedians at these mics because chances are the people are still tumbling from work and cabs {or stuck in the horrible rain}. With these late editions, that begin at 10.30pm and finish off by midnight will let everyone be a part of it. Missing out on your friend’s set or that comedian you wanted to check out is history now.

They have organised poetry sessions, writing workshops and more in the past one month and will continue to, as the response has been pretty good.

They have an upcoming open mic night on July 24 that begins at 10:30pm and will be hosted by Saurav Mehta.
