The by-lanes of Bandra are now home to a vibrant Latin American restaurant called ‘The Latin Mess’. When it comes to South American cuisine, we often only picture Mexican cuisine in our heads. This new restaurant shows that South American cuisine and culture is a lot more than just Mexican. Bringing authentic and bold flavours from multiple Latin American countries - Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Brazil – this restaurant serves popular street food from the region. From Colombian-style corn burgers and traditional dips like salsa to local dishes like Arepas to Yuca fries, every food item on their menu has a fiery quality that sits perfectly well with the Indian taste bud.
Here’s what we say you must try. Their Frijoles Negrito, a dish cooked with black beans, avocado and jalapenos is a great start. And for meat lovers, there’s Carnitas – roasted pork garnished with mustard, greens, green onion aioli and fried sweet plantain. For the main course, you can opt for the traditional native American dish called Humitas stuffed with indigenous ingredients like corn, chillies and cheese. Of course, no meal ends without desserts. Make your own happy ending with local desserts like Brigadeiros, truffles made with Valrhona chocolate, condensed milk and caramelized cocoa nibs. Or indulge your sweet tooth with their popular milk cake called Tres Leches served with a tropical touch of pineapple and lemon cream.
Talking about the ambience, the place is perfect for those who prefer tiny, cozy spaces. A micro-restaurant, the South American joint is a small 12-seater space surrounded with bright yellow and orange hues and bursting kaleidoscopic shades. Best part? It has an open kitchen as well!
