A Home Chef Is Cooking Balochistani Food For Mumbai Food-Lovers

Shortcut

In their first home dining experience, a Mahim family will be cooking up authentic flavours of the tiny Bhagnari community.

Food With No Borders

My Forgotten Baloch will see Priya Jham and son Amit churning out recipes of their Karachi-born grandparents, who belong to the small Bhagnari community {a community of just 2,000 in Mumbai}.

Their menu will offer Bhagnari cuisine {specific to Balochistan} which will include khatti dal {slow-cooked dal in a clay pot} and mutton chops in traditional Bhagnari masala. Also on the menu is keema kaleji, arbi tuk {double-fried colocasia root} and pulao e azm {rice with dry fruits}.

So We're Thinking...

The Jham family are the first ones to start a catering business for their niche cuisine. We suggest you book fast, as they host only between 12-15 people at a go. Speak to them about their culture, their food, and even their recipes for the in-house masalas {especially hari dal masala}. If they’re overbooked, they will take on the people for the next alternate Sunday.

#LBBTip

We’ve been told they will organise more home dining experiences, so we’re keeping our eyes out for more love from Karachi.
