In the sleepy lane of Waroda Road in Bandra, there's a shop called Lila that totally blew us away. So we took a spin around the block, and here’s what we found.
Sharing a similar namesake to the Beatles song we know and love, Lila originally belongs to Delhi, and has come over to our side of town all the way from the capital. Almost in a staring competition with Birdsong Organic Cafe, we spotted Lila when strolling along the lane and went right in. To the left, racks with neatly spaced out tops and dresses for women are arranged, and to the left are shirts and women’s skirts. Lila, from what we could figure is full of loosely-fit designs in fabrics of khadi and cotton.
Using minimal prints and mostly plain colours, stripes, blocks and even gingham, Lila has clothes for the comfortably chic, or the adult who still likes picnics at the park. We adored the gingham loose dress (INR 3,500) that would make Pippi Longstocking proud. The tops start at INR 1500, and the dresses average between INR 3,000-3,500 as well. We also crushed hard on the plaid-collared midi dresses and the beautiful checks and floral shirt they had. They also stock nicely fitted yellow block pants, among other designs and skirts. There’s a rack full of shirts for men too.
Lila gives gorgeous, comfortable designs without a price tag that would burn your hand (and a hole in your pocket). Should you visit? That’s a yes, yes and a hundred times, yes.
