When I write about brands and labels to recommend, I am not just drawn to what they have to offer, but even to the stories that they have and share - on how an idea was brought to life and how they've reached where they are now. So, it's no surprise that a story that's this interesting immediately grabbed my attention.
We all try and take inspiration from our travels - whether in India or abroad. And for a few of us, it sparks the beginning of an idea that's created out of passion. Just like for these two pilot friends and now business co-founders, Deeksha and Divya. Both of them would love to travel and have a deep connection with the minimalistic way of living. Their travels led them to create this beautiful label called Luuma that means to be 'found or established'.
What resonated with them was the idea of utilising eco-friendly and natural materials in home decor and furnishings. So, their brand has stunning products like rattan pendant lamps, mirrors, baskets, planters, home furnishings & rugs. They work with artisans across the country and one of their main missions is to bring Indian handcrafted products to the world.
Their price range varies from product to product. So, their home furnishings are up to the range of INR 2,500, rattan pendant lamps range from INR 2,500 to INR 8,500; rattan mirrors - up to INR 6,000; baskets & planters between INR 1,200 to INR 3,500 for a handmade laundry basket; and rugs from INR 2,500 to INR 20,000.
They currently sell via Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp but are launching a website real soon.
I can't stress enough on how beautiful their products are, and anyone who wants to add a little bit of nature and chic up a corner should definitely check them out.
Psst: They'd make for such interesting gifts!
