Country’s First Champagne And Caviar Bar Is Here In Mumbai

The information in this post might be outdated

What Is It?

India’s first champagne and caviar bar, an array of seafood preparations for which the produce is sourced from the authentic local fishermen, and for other things on the menu, the ingredients are imported from the world over. Does it sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not. Because R2O – Rivers to Oceans – is here to pay homage to our water bodies that never fail to give.

An aquatic ambience with hues of blues, whites, and sea-green, the restaurant is designed to keep you from getting distracted with simplistic décor; they want all your attention on their cuisine. The furniture, doors, and walls all have a ripple effect on them that makes the entire place feel like its closer to the water. Half the restaurant area is their kitchen, and they have a live kitchen with an exotic display of fresh bounty from the sea on a well-lit ice bed.

Chow Down

They clearly love vegetarians just as much as the meat lovers because they are offering an elaborate menu for both choices. They have a 15-course veg and non-veg tasting menus which are light but flavourful. From their a-la-carte menu, the highlights are cold Hamachi and caviar plate (hand pounded seasoned hamachi served with selection of caviar, avocado tartare, and spring onions), braised mussels served with parsley butter, and truffled red lobster, butter and leek broth (fire grilled fresh lobster smeared with truffle oil served with melted lemon butter and leeks. And to make matters even more interesting, it is topped with grated parmesan and cured yolk). Their butter pepper garlic crabs and tiger prawn Thermidor served with white onion and potato hash is highly recommended too.

For the non-meat eaters, things to try are mushroom & truffle pate, melba toast, reconstructed bell pepper with corn quesadilla, and green garlic risotto served with aubergine fritters.

So, We’re Saying…
