Chitale Bandhu, Prabhadevi
This well-known Pune-based brand also has it's branch in aamchi Mumbai's Prabhadevi area. And you really will be spoilt for choice here. If in doubt, go for their udkiche or kaju modak, tel poli, karanji, shankarpadi, and basundi. Our personal favorite is their amba barfi (mango barfi) which is made of fresh mango and milk and is sweetened to perfection.

Panshikar Mithai Kendra, Girgaum
Apart from their special fasting foods like sabudana vada and farali misal, Panshikar is a household name for traditional Maharashtrian sweets like shrikhand, kaju katlis, gulab jamuns, modaks, and different varieties of laddoos, on the occasion of Gudi Padwa.

D Damodar Mithaiwala, Dadar
This pre-independence era sweet shop serves some really good sweets (and farsan) What you must try is their malai gota, badam pista halwa, white ice halwa, modaks, and shankarpadas. They've even got sugar-free motichoor laddoos and coconut barfis. Oh and their methi and dink laddoos are the bomb!

Chanderkar Sweets, Worli
Chanderkar is one of the oldest sweet shops this city has. They are known for their kaju katli and special anjeer katli, mawa sweets, barfis and pedhas. If you're a jalebi fan, you're at the right shop. Go for their kesari modaks and methi laddoos too.

You have eaten strawberries and cream. But have you eaten them as a shrikhand? This Gudi Padwa, Dhupkar is preparing flavoured shrikhands- cardamom, mango, and strawberry (during season) Their barfis come in flavors like malai, anjeer, and pista. You can also pack some puran polis for that big lunch tomorrow.
