What Makes It Awesome

You might be familiar with the BKC outpost of Pa Pa Ya— it’s a spot that’s been much-loved for years, and is known as a Modern Asian bistro that experiments with culinary techniques and recipes from all over Asia, to bring fusion food that’s super delectable. Pa Pa Ya seeks to give you a gastronomical experience, serving up their signatures like their charcoal-toned Carbon Sushi, their Shiitake Burrata Croquetas, and their Fresh Water Lantern Lobster with Peanuts & Chilli.

BKC’s Pa Pa Ya gives off a fine-dining vibe we really like, but their newly opened Malad edition is a more fun, casual setting that’s just right for some delicious Asian-fusion comfort food. We had the chance to explore their menu, and must we say that we enjoyed some of the delicious vegetarian fare on the menu.

For drinks, we started with Shikoku Cooler and Spiced Up along with an order of the Miso Ramen, an umami bomb that was light, comforting and a perfect precursor to the richer stuff that followed. We then moved on to the Truffle Mushroom and Cream Cheese Dimsums. Indulgent, perfectly gooey and an even bigger umami bomb than the soup, this one redefines comfort food, and elevates the otherwise simple dimsum. Jumping into sushi, we tried the super yummy Asparagus Tempura. Pa Pa Ya politely made sure our soy, wasabi and chilli sauces stayed refilled, as we dunked morsel after morsel into the chilli—which was surprisingly spicy, yet super irresistible.

For our last tapas dish, we had the Avocado Taco. This particular dish was moreish, and a true representation of what Pa Pa Ya has to offer—fusion, experimental and delicious.

Of course we were quite full by now, but we definitely weren’t skipping the mains here. We tried the Massaman Curry, with their Stir-Fried Noodles. This one’s a classic Asian comfort food staple, which they got quite right!

Dessert was a Chocolate Ball on Fire with A Chocolate Sauce (INR 605). This was a fun dish, but didn’t particularly have an Asian-inspired element. This was good for 3 people, since it’s a generous portion.

Head to Pa Pa Ya for a dinner with the fam, or before you head into the theatre for a movie. Be sure to kick back a few cocktails, since they really were lovely!
