The queen of the film festivals in India is back, and it’s bigger with its 19th edition. Jio MAMI Film Festival is all set to take stage from October 12 to October 18. With almost 200 films to be screened across seven days, we are excited!

Who Is It For?

MAMI Film Festival 2017 is for anyone who appreciates cinema, and wants to engage with the films. The films are not limited to Indian cinema, but many global films will be screened too. The schedule is yet to be out, but we’re hoping it’s an interesting one. If you haven’t heard of these films yet – well, that’s the whole point.

Not just limited to film screenings, MAMI will also see interesting panel discussions with industry professionals, Q & A with directors, masterclasses among other things – all essential ingredients of a delicious film festival.

Why Should I Go?

To experience the progress cinema has made worldwide. The Mumbai Academy of Moving Images strives to bring together the most cutting-edge and independent films by weaving them into the festival.

The international lineup will be announced soon, however they have already released the first in the line – ‘Call Me By Your Name‘ by American director Luca Guadagnino. The movie is a coming-of-age film and features music by Sufjan Stevans. It has made waves at the recently held Toronto Film Festival 2017.

The opening film of the festival has also been announced, and it is indie cinema’s favourite director’s film, Mukkabaaz by Anurag Kashyap.

Anything Else?

MAMI Film Festival in a nutshell is any movie-lovers paradise – there’s going to be actors, directors, writers and others who are a part of the industry. And most of all, some of the most beautiful and carefully curated and selected films will be there. We’re going to be there, will we see you too?

The tickets are not out yet but you can register to pre-order your tickets, and get a discount as well. To register, go here.
