What Makes It Awesome

A Thane (and now, Mumbai) icon, Mamledar MIsal is one of the oldest and most well-known misal restaurants we know. The very first outlet opened up in Thane all the way back in 1952, that's 70 years ago!

The name comes from the location of the very first branch to open up - it was near Mamledar Kacheri in Thane. Helmed by the late Mr. Narsingh Murdeshwar back in the day, it’s now managed by the third generation of the family - Damodar Murdeshwar.

We visited the branch near Thane station, which is run in collaboration with Amantran Restaurant. We walked up the stairs to the seating area and parked ourselves on a table, before ordering their iconic misal, in the medium spicy variant, and a glass full of spiced taak (chhaas) to finish the experience with.

The misal itself, you can tell that they’ve got it down to a science! They always ask you how spicy you want it, and we’d say their scale is quite accurate.

We recommend the dalimbi usal, kairi panhe and the kharvas (if available) on your visit here!

Price: INR 200 for two. We only billed INR 90 for one!
