Mumbai has a lot of old food joints that are unique not only for their legacy and charm, but also for their lip-smacking food. Pancham Puriwala is one such tiny restaurant in Fort, that never disappoints us.

What Makes It Awesome
Pancham Puriwala has been around in South Mumbai for almost 160 years, and has gained a rather iconic status when it comes to classic eateries in SoBo. And rightly so. Pancham is known for its wholesome thalis which are affordable and really filling. Keeping that in mind, one fine warm and humid noon we dropped by at this humble eatery, and tried their biggest thali, known as the Royal thali, and the ever-so-famous aamras thali that is a special addition every mango season.
The royal thali requires at least two people (with a great appetite) to finish it off. It has paneer and beetroot puris, along with paneer pulao, palak paneer, aloo mutter, bhindi ki sabzi, paneer mutter, kadhi, dahi wada, chhole ki sabzi, a hot gulaab jamun, a bowl of aamras, and a glass of fresh chhaas. All of this for an unbelievable price of INR 250 only. We couldn't resist ourselves from the seasonal aamras thali for INR 140, that comes with five kinds of puris. There's a paneer puri, a masala puri, a palak puri, a beetroot puri, and a plain puri *sigh* along with a huge bowl of aamras that has just the right amount of sweetness.
We still cannot get enough of Pancham, and we bet even you can't, when you visit.
Pro-Tip
If you’re a mango lover, or if you're craving for some simple traditional food, then head over to this iconic eatery, and pounce on their thalis.
