Konkan Bhumi Pratisthan, along with Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB) and Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) are hosting the Global Kokan Mango Festival 2018 from May 2 – May 8 2018 at Nehru Science Centre, Worli in Mumbai.
This means that you’ll get to choose from 35 different varieties of mangoes from the Konkan region that are on display here (we’re drooling while typing this down!)
This is the largest platform for buyers in Mumbai and the chance to directly purchase it from the farmers. In addition, it gives you the chance to buy different varieties of the Alphonso mango (now, isn’t that the best news you’ve heard all day?)
It is also a platform for those looking at farming, as the festival will have seminars on mango cultivation and farming technology, critical infrastructure required to setup for mango export. So, if you know of anyone who’s always been interested in mango farming, make sure to bring them with you!
The aim of the event is to educate and create awareness on organic, naturally-ripened mangoes. Also, it will highlight and appeal to the government for that much-needed GI tag. With over 30 leading importers from different countries participating, there’s enough and more reason to make that trip!
