Sweet, Sweet Cravings: The Mawa Jalebi At This SoBo Stall Is Out Of This World
We tried the mawa jalebi at this decade-old stall near Minara Masjid and here’s why we loved it so much.
OMG! Tell Me More
Burhanpur Mawa Jalebi was started a decade ago by Nooruddin, Hussain’s uncle who presently runs the stall. “The recipe of the jalebi is original, passed on by a karigar in Mathura to our maternal grandfather,” says Hussain. This shop is a branch of the original, which has been in Burhanpur for 45 years and now has another shop right opposite the main one too. They make the most amazing mawa jalebis which taste like gulab jamun. Don’t believe us? Try them yourself!
Mawa jalebi is a specialty from Madhya Pradesh and this stall definitely aces the recipe. The stall is open between 4pm to midnight, and between 4pm to 3am during Ramzan. The stall is literally tiny, bigger than a kiosk one can only do takeaways from here. The jalebis, of course, are succulent, big and piping hot. Parking here is a problem, so walk towards the lane behind Sulaiman Usman and ask anyone for this famous stall and they will direct you.
So, We're Saying...
We’re just gonna say good-bye to our diet!
