What Makes It Awesome

Ganesh Chaturthi euphoria is here! Apart from the enthusiasm of welcoming Lord Ganesha, we're always excited for one more thing that the festive gets along with it - lip-smacking Modaks. And like every year, we find ourselves walking on the same route which leads to the iconic Modakam, a little restaurant in Prabhadevi.

From introducing unique and innovative flavours to increasing the size of the modaks year after year, this joint has never failed to disappoint us. In fact, they've only left us surprised and awestruck. This year, they've introduced a gigantic 10 kg modak with their classic charm and tons of dry fruits. And can you guess the price of this giant modak?

Well, it's a whopping INR 10,000. We'd recommend you go for this one if you're having a huge family get together, as it can easily suffice 20 to 30 people. Well, there's more to this. This year, they've introduced a couple of innovative flavours as well if you're bored of the usual modak or are looking for an assortment of interesting modaks. The new flavours include litchi, black current, kiwi, blueberry, hazelnut and walnut. And for the healthy conscious peeps, there are sugar-free modaks.

Modakam is close to Siddhivinayak Temple and as a result, you’ll mostly find it packed. Going here during the Ganpati season will really set the atmosphere for the puri bhaji, kothimbir vadi, puri bhaji, and more light snacks. Those on a diet can have their upwas food – be it sweet kachori, sbaudana wada, upwas misal and more.

#LBBTip:
They've introduced modak shaped diyas which start from INR 75. Maybe bag these when you're there.

We know, we know, just this might not completely satisfy your Ganpati food cravings so after a quick bite here, you can drop into any of the neighbouring eateries, Prakash or Aswad for a nap-inducing meal. Head here while the sounds of festivity resound on the street and bite into a sweet modak while at Modakam. Ganpati Bappa Morya!
