What Makes It Awesome

Nestled between Prithvi Theatre and Novotel is a brand new restaurant in Juhu that is going to soothe your mind, tongue, stomach and soul. Silk Route is the place to be if fabulously inspiring decor, an inclusive cuisine and flawlessly curated cocktails make you feel good. The menu is aptly titled ‘Journey of Flavours’ as it takes your taste buds on a rollercoaster ride. Apart from a robust Indian affair, there are European, Middle Eastern and Asian options to satiate your hunger.

Let’s start with the food. We started with the Mezze Platter, and it was the right choice to start our meal. The hummus was traditional and smooth, and the beetroot hummus was a nice inclusion. Light, crunchy and delish, the falafel was far from oily and heavy. Tabbouleh on the platter was a fresh addition that got gobbled up entirely. Having had the opportunity to meet the chef, Kaustubh brought over an entire feast for us to try. Both the prawn appetisers were outstanding and made it to my must-try list. The chicken starters covered all bases, Indian, Asian and, of course, yummy. The vegetarian hors d'oeuvres will reintroduce you to paneer in a new, soft, melts-in-the-mouth avatar. We weren’t done yet, for the chef surprised us with the best Balaklava I have ever tasted. The chocolate and date one has my heart.

We had the pleasure of talking with Naveen Kotyankar, the Beverage Consultant at Silk Route. He shared the inspiration behind not just the menu but also the set-up and vibe. While the outdoor area is a tranquil, mesmerising place to relax and rejuvenate, inside we found aesthetics, which make a night out on the town even better. The neon signs, bar stools and booths with green and gold are swanky. The music in here will make you want to shake a leg and can be completely different from what’s playing outside. Talk about a private party spot!

Naveen suggested two cocktails to kickstart our evening, both gin-based drinks that left us satiated. The Singapore Sling, made with gin, cherry extract, pineapple juice and bitters is something we recommend you try. The star was the Elderflower Martini that knocked our socks off for all the right reasons. Expertly crafted, this drink brings out the elderflower flavour perfectly. In spirit of the romantic season, the next cocktails at Silk Route are to be shared with your beloved; a Bellini and the Raspberry Margarita.

We give the food, drinks and vibes 10/10. And we simply can’t wait for the rooftop area to open for us to sip with a view of the city's twinkling lights, surrounded by great food and fun vibes. They are currently open from 4 PM to 1 AM.

Price For Two: INR 1,400 for food and INR 2,200 for food and drinks
